What is birth control medication?
Birth control medication, commonly referred to as "birth control pills" or "oral contraceptives," is a medication taken by individuals to prevent pregnancy. These medications contain hormones, usually synthetic versions of estrogen and progestin, which work together to inhibit ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovaries).
