What are seasonal allergies?
Seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or allergic rhinitis, are allergic reactions that occur during specific times of the year, typically when certain plants release pollen into the air. These allergies are triggered by exposure to airborne allergens, such as pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. Seasonal allergies are characterized by a range of symptoms that primarily affect the nose and eyes.
Common symptoms
Symptoms may include:
- Sneezing
- Runny, stuffy, or itchy nose
- Itchy, red, or watery eyes
- Itchy throat or ears
- Postnasal drip (mucus dripping down the back of the throat)
